Nimrod MRA.4 Contract cancelled on 22/10/10

New information added

The Royal Navy's 4 x Beech King Air 350ER's which are are currently being prepared at Bournemouth Airport, and are set to replace the Jetstream T.2's currently in use. Have now named by the Royal Navy, and will be known as the Avenger T.1.

Grob G115E Tutor in Royal Air Force service seems to have officially (according the Royal Air Force website) adopted the name Tutor T mark 1. and is reflected in database as Tutor T.1. While on the subject the older Tutors (G-BYUA to G-BYYB) are receiving a EA upgrade. The E standing for G115E and the A stands for advanced these mods are to bring the whole fleet up to the same standard as those delivered in 2010. The (EA) will be removed once these upgrades are complete. This is so you can keep up to speed on how many have been trough the upgrade.  The work is being done by TAG UK Aviation at Farnborough Airfield.

The Airbus A.400M has been named by the Royal Air Force the type will be known as the Atlas C.1.

Airbus have recently started designating types to its Airbus A330 MMRT. It would now appear that those air forces operating the type have also adopted these in service. The marks are as follows..

KC-30A -- Multi hose and drone tanker and transport this is the type which will be operated by the Royal Air Force.

This is also used as the designation for the Single point hose and drone/Boom type tanker transport believed the type ordered by the United Arab Emirates Air Force.

KC-30B -- Boom type refuelling system with under wing hose and drones currently on delivery to the Royal Australian Air Force

The company will now be hoping to also have this designation used by the United States Air Force after placing its bid for the KC-X contract.  As with all barring a few aircraft in the UK armed services the type is yet to be named by the Royal Air Force. The winner of the KC-X production contract should be announced by the end of the month the winning bid will receive an order for 179 aircraft order. In the administrators opinion at least the Airbus A330 MMRT has got the upper hand again at the third attempt. The Boeing's KC-767 option looks to be struggling still this is after taking 5 extra years to develop than originally planned. The program has suffered from delays and in the case of both orders for the type so far the company have had to pay contractual fines to both and the aircraft is still not 100%. Both the Italian Air Force and the Japanese Self Defence Force have had there deliveries delayed and while in the case of the JSDF whose aircraft are now arriving but are doing so 5 years late. While the Airbus A330 MMRT suffered from some teething problems with its refuelling boom it has now received operational clearance and is ready for service. The first Airbus customer is the Royal Australian Air Force which are now received 2 aircraft into service the second customers aircraft are now in company flight trials. The second customer is of course the Royal Air Force who expect there first aircraft to arrive for flight and clearance trials in the next 8 to 10 weeks. For the first time its looking like Airbus have closed the gap on there Boeing rivals so don't be surprised when you here who the winner is when its announced.
